Care & Etiquette for Wearing ZN-Tangka

Please Remember: Respect · Understanding · Care · Tolerance

1. Water & Moisture Protection

  1. Do not wear the Thangka while showering or washing your face. Remove it or keep it covered to prevent water from entering the amulet case and damaging the painting.
  2. Avoid wearing it directly against your skin, as sweat can seep into the case and harm the artwork.
  3. Keep the Thangka away from humid or damp environments.

2. Avoid Direct Sunlight

Long-term exposure to direct sunlight will cause the colors to fade or the surface to crack. Keep it out of strong UV light to preserve its beauty.

3. Etiquette While Wearing

  1. It is recommended to wear the Thangka on the outside of your clothing, rather than directly against your body.
  2. Keep the Thangka above the waist at all times. Do not let it hang below the waist or be stepped over.
  3. Remove the Thangka before sleeping to avoid crushing or damaging it.
  4. Do not wear it during intimate moments, and do not place it on the bedside.
  5. Others may look at or touch the Thangka, but they should not wear it. Only family members with sincere respect may wear it.

4. How to Store When Not Wearing

  1. Store the Thangka in a clean, respectful place in your home. Do not place it in cluttered areas, or in the kitchen, bathroom, by the bed, or under your pillow.
  2. Suitable places include the living room or study. If you prefer privacy, you may wrap it in a soft cloth and store it in a high drawer or shelf, ideally at or above shoulder height.
  3. Do not discard or damage the Thangka. If you no longer wish to keep it, please take it to a temple for proper disposal.
